timstwrt: we touched on this earlier this season, but it's the only aspect of this game interesting to me: there are 125 FBS head coaching jobs. how does doug martin hold one of them?
what was that interview like? "yes, I was the OC for a team that went 2-10 last year, but I firmly believe that the offense that I guided to 99th in total offense was more befitting a 3-9 team and that we were let down by our defense"
fun fact: the name of the person who hired doug martin to coach football is dr. mckinley boston
i've never heard of a new mexico state football fan, but i would imagine that that's because the announcement of this hiring killed off the last one.
what's the upside to hiring a martin type for any head coaching job over the hundreds of pj flecks out there? "at new mexico state, we're not only committed to losing, we're committed to losing in the least compelling fashion possible"
since you're not participating in this chat, i'll close with the following points:
1) BC 34 NMSU 10
2) had we discussed the UNC game i may have been in the throes of despair, but this season has already far exceeded my expectations, especially the competitiveness in big games and the likelihood of a bowl berth
3) the best illustration of this season is that this tweet just happened and is not a joke: https://twitter.com/ smartfootball/status/ 399237313265692672
4) 7-5 would be a great season, but 8-4 is an incredible outside possibility, and if it happens we'll be looking for a new head coach again
5) #BeASteppingStone
