Gchatting the Eagles #2: Northwestern Preview

percDM losing to northwestern without the best running back in the ACC does not spell doom
however, losing to a persa-less northwestern might
timstwrt if BC loses to northwestern without persa...yes, doom
will the purple gimp play?
percDM i don't think he will play.  apparently, for his injury, returning now is about two months ahead of schedule
while this is a big game for both teams, i don't think fitz wants to lose persa for the big ten schedule
percDM either way, i think the northwestern game plan will feature a lot less quarterback mobility
which makes them a lot easier to defend
timstwrt which would seem to feature a lot more BC interceptions
percDM if our defensive backs can catch the football
which they can, because i said earlier that i'm not worried about them
timstwrt i was just assuming that KPL and kuechly were patrolling the entire field and covering all receivers
percDM do you think we will be able to put together scoring drives?
timstwrt i'm going to be perfectly honest
i have no idea
percDM predicting is a fickle business
timstwrt: rettig's supposedly progressed
and williams was obviously awesome in carrier dome last year
but with montel out and so many variables at play (those listed, new OC), who knows?
everyone seems to think this is going to be a slog, win or lose
percDM hopefully, northwestern's defense against the run will be reminiscent of last year's
i think williams is for real and will rush for over 100 yards despite being less than 100%
my concern with rettig revolves around the offensive line and spaz's conservative leanings
the recent shuffling on the offensive line is a cause for concern
if they don't gel and northwestern gets pressure, i think we will see some mistakes from rettig
i worry that an early mistake or two will cause spaz to try and turn rettig into a game manager
and if that happens, we will see the same anemic offense we saw last year
timstwrt but northwestern can't really score without persa, right?
and probably can't really score with a stationary persa
percDM yeah, i think we will be able to shut down their offense
timstwrt also, i understand that it's just marketing, but where does northwestern get off launching a heisman campaign for that guy?
percDM i was completely unaware of such a campaign, and i live in chicago
timstwrt http://nusports.cstv.com/persastrong/
there are billboards in chicago and bristol
i love that the front page clip is ESPN.com naming him the 10th strongest man in college football
persastrong!
percDM apparently they've never seen what LeMichael James can do in NCAA 2012.
Persa isn't even the most exciting or buzz worthy quarterback in his conference
timstwrt he'd be a shoo-in for third-string all-Big 10
maybe that's what they meant to campaign for, and it got lost in translation at a sports information department meeting
mississippi state should launch a chris relf for heisman campaign
percDM I'm not sure where Persa falls on my pre-season list but its somewhere below Luck, James, Moore, Richardson, and Robinson
and probably below Kuechly
Where is Kuechly for Heisman
timstwrt: where is kuechly for heisman indeed
i mean, obviously he can't win it
and our marketing department is terrible
so, i guess that's where it is
percDM Maybe we are wrong, maybe Persa can win the heisman
let's say northwestern runs the table
timstwrt i don't know why we'd say that, but ok
timstwrt their schedule isn't terrible
at nebraska, though
percDM at boston college
timstwrt michigan, michigan state, penn state at home
not a bad schedule at all...they should think about a heisman campaign for dan persa
in any event, they're not going to be undefeated at the end of the season because they're not going to be undefeated at the end of tomorrow, right?
percDM right, i think we win this one a little easier than the predictions i've seen
27-17
timstwrt same spread, slightly lower score
23-13
go eagles.
